How RepoFlow works
Updated September 7, 2026RepoFlow is a free web app that turns public GitHub into a feed you can scroll. Every card is a real repository showing its name, stars, creation date and description; its README and language appear in the project detail, so you can judge a project in seconds, save it, or open it on GitHub. It is operated by Thomas Deng as an individual, in Canada. It is not affiliated with GitHub, and it is not the package-management product at repoflow.io.
Who it is for
Developers who want to see what is being built right now without running searches: people looking for a library, a tool, or an example to build on, and people who would rather spend idle browsing time on real projects than on a social feed.
The four surfaces
| Surface | What it lists | How it is ordered |
|---|---|---|
| Today | Public repositories created on the current day (product day is America/Toronto). | By GitHub creation time. No star, language, or quality threshold. It is a chronological view, not a ranking. |
| Rising | Repositories whose stars or forks grew between two RepoFlow observations taken during a recent comparable window. | By measured growth. A high cumulative star count alone never qualifies; a repository with only one observation shows as pending, not as rising. |
| For You | Eligible projects from the shared catalog, matched to your interests. Without personalization evidence, a quality-screened broad mix is available. | By explicit interests and on-site behaviour, or objective project evidence for the initial broad mix. Turning personalization off stops behavioural learning. |
| Search | Keyword search over the same catalog, with filters and sorting. | Your query and filters. Search is how you reach the full catalog rather than a ranked slice of it. |
Saved is your own list. Anonymous saves belong to the current browser session. Optional sign-in restores the signed-in account’s list across devices; it does not merge anonymous saves.
Where the data comes from
RepoFlow reads public repository metadata and READMEs through GitHub's official API and keeps a shared catalog that every visitor browses. It does not host code, does not copy repositories, and does not alter repository facts: star counts come from GitHub, creation dates are GitHub's, and the README is the repository's own README, sanitized for safe display. When a field has not been fetched yet, the card says so instead of showing zero.
What RepoFlow does not claim
- It does not cover all of GitHub and does not promise that you will never miss a project.
- It does not use AI to curate, summarize or score projects. Nothing on a card is generated.
- It makes no statement about code quality, security, maintainer trust or a project's future.
- "Scroll GitHub like Instagram" describes the browsing feel only. There are no follows, likes, posts, comments or creator accounts.
Access and cost
No account, password or public profile is required; RepoFlow starts an anonymous session in your browser. Every feature is free for everyone until October 1, 2026. Pricing after that date has not been decided and is not promised. See the Terms and Privacy Policy.
Frequently asked questions
- What is RepoFlow?
- A free web app that turns public GitHub into a scrollable feed of real repositories, with Today, Rising, For You, Search and Saved.
- Is RepoFlow the same as repoflow.io?
- No. repoflow.ca is an open-source discovery feed. repoflow.io is an unrelated package-management product.
- What is the difference between Today, Rising and For You?
- Today is chronological by creation time. Rising is measured growth in stars or forks between recent observations. For You uses your chosen languages and topics and on-site behaviour. Before personalization evidence exists, it offers a quality-screened broad mix.
- Does RepoFlow cover all of GitHub?
- No. It ingests new public repositories continuously but does not claim complete coverage.
- Is it AI-curated?
- No. Rankings use public repository evidence, measured growth, and your interests and on-site behaviour where applicable. Nothing shown is generated.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Optional email or Google sign-in restores your account across devices. Anonymous saves and preferences stay separate and are not merged.
- How much does it cost?
- Free for everyone until October 1, 2026. Later pricing is undecided.
